Her Majesty Queen Azizah Cooks Live with MOMC from The Palace
The idea for Masters of Malaysian Cuisine was formed when Covid-19 restrictions meant most of the world was locked down and people were isolated at home. I figured it’d be a good opportunity to make use of my specialty, ie.virtual live cooking, by bringing together a group of top Malaysian chefs to livestream along with me.
We set our mission statement as follows –
- to share Malaysia’s cuisine with the world and inspire people to cook it at home
- to instill pride in, and preserve Malaysia’s culinary heritage for future generations
- to bring people together through a mutual love of food, during a time when they are socially isolated due to travel restrictions
We’ve had a rollercoaster ride over the last few months, but nothing could equal having Her Majesty Queen Azizah of Malaysia join us in our final broadcast of 2020. My former MOMC partner-in-crime Norman Musa first pitched the idea as we all knew Queen Azizah to be a passionate and skilled cook.
We invited her to join us Live to wish all our viewers Happy New Year, but to our delight and amazement, we were treated to a 90-minute session with the Queen cooking Live from the Palace kitchen, as she prepared her own New Year’s Eve dinner for her family.

I’ve been doing live cooking videos ever since Google invited me to join what was then a pioneer concept over eight years ago, and this was the first time I’d ever encountered an event like this – having the Queen livestream a cooking session from the Palace to a global audience.
As we start off a new year and a new season with MOMC and our spinoff group MOMC@Heart, we are excited about what’s in store in the future. Stay tuned for our announcements 🙂
