This July, the Masters of Malaysian Cuisine (MOMC) group of elite internationally-based chefs are travelling to Malaysia to undertake a number of projects in partnership with the Malaysian Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries (MAFI) and Tourism Malaysia.
The group’s schedule includes a multi-state MAFI-hosted durian fam tour, the development of a durian cookbook for MAFI, and the filming of Tourism Malaysia Australia’s Street Food Journeys: Malaysia Series 4 & 5.
The eight chefs that form MOMC will be joined by cooks from the extended MOMC@Heart group, as well as international influencers including Australian media personality Lyndey Milan, The JetLag Warriors, Mark O’Dea, Arieff Yong, Rhys William and Mat Dan.
Participants will be travelling from the United Kingdom, Germany, Hungary, The Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, South Africa and Australia to undertake a road trip through a number of Malaysian states across 5 weeks.
Formed during the Covid lockdown in June 2020, MOMC has been actively sharing Malaysian cooking with a global online audience in the form of virtual live cooking demonstrations, a monthly recipe eMagazine, and three seasons of the Tourism Malaysia Australia online series, Street Food Journeys: Malaysia.
“At MOMC, we consider it a privilege to showcase Malaysia’s culinary offerings to the world. After two years of long-distance virtual sharing, we’re thrilled to finally be able to do so on-location in Malaysia now that travel borders have reopened”, says MOMC’s Australia-based founder, Jackie M. Tang.
